I take great pride in my work and I believe that if you're passionate about what you do, it makes it that much more rewarding! From a very early age I have always wanted to teach, and although this has been a significant career change, I'm eager to learn the ins and outs of teaching.

After completing my TESOL course last year in Perth, I decided to follow a different career path and along with my desire to travel, I wanted to use my recently acquired qualification to a mutual benefit.

China was first on my list (by a long way) to teach English, since I am interested in its culture, customs, people, and also to learn the language. I know I will be investing many years trying to experience all that China has to offer, but I also know it will all be worth it.

I am excited to be here in Yangzhou and to have the opportunity to teach at the Beijing New Oriental and to meet the parents and teachers, but especially the students as I have always wanted to teach children and spend time talking to them and am looking forward to a happy and enjoyable time for everyone involved

Hello, my name is Gunawan Halim from Indonesia.

At the beginning, my main reason to come to China was to study Chinese. My adventure in China continues when I found a job in Beijing, before I moved to work in Yangzhou to join my wife in this beautiful school. This is my 5th year working at this school as an IT teacher.

Teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies and new strategies, learning from the parents and community, learning from colleagues, and especially learning from the children. Children have taught me to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Because of this, I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old, and laugh with the children.

I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I am now proud to call Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language School at Yangzhou, or China my second home.

My name is Peter Bower. I am from Newcastle, Australia. I have a history in music, philosophy, hospitality and education.

My name is Evi Troizi. I was born in Cyprus. I've lived most of my adult life in South Africa. My studies (computer programming) have helped me realize that life won't always go as planned. There is a time when you have to stop dreaming and you have to wake up!

That realization led me to China. Initially it was an impulse decision. I was in search of something to break my normal every day routine and I just closed my eyes and took the first step.

The first step brought me to Beijing New Oriental. I love teaching English to children. I feel renewed every single day I am here. Not a dull moment in China!

Hi, my name is Michael Johnson, and I am from a small town in Northern California called Elk Grove.

I love scuba diving, sailing, and writing music with my daughter. I also am an avid reader. My favorite authors are; James Clavell, Larry Niven, and Stephen King.

I have been traveling, and writing about my experiences for the last two years. This included solo sailing my boat in the Bahamas Islands for a year, hitchhiking across the United States and Northern Mexico, and spending three months traversing back and forth across Mainland China from Hong Kong up to Beijing. I’ve met some wonderful people in my travels, and fell in love with this beautiful country.

I look forward to working with the teachers here at New Oriental, and teaching English to the children of China, as I try to learn Mandarin.
