    • Information Technology Competition (2008-3-14)

From March 3rd to March 12th 2008, the first round of the Information Technology Competition was held in Yangzhou. Of the students at our school who participated in the first round of the competition, 17 student were selected to take part in the second round. We would like to congratulate all these students and wish them make greater success in the next round.

    Internet Music Concert (2008-3-8)

On March 6th (at 9:00pm Beijing Standard Time & 8:00am American Eastern Standard Time) a music concert was held in our school’s auditorium.

However this was not your standard musical concert, where a person could sit in the balcony and listen to music delivered live from the singer’s mouth, and into ones ear. This was a music concert via video conferencing; a truly marvelous invention. The entire music concert lasted only 30 minutes, but it was well received by the students, teachers, and administrators who witnessed the event. Our students were especially excited, as they had never interacted with someone from another country via this medium (by seeing, and speaking with them simultaneously).

Our music concert via video conference was a truly eye opening and heart warming experience. We were able to close the distance across many borders, and see and talk face to face even though we live in different time zones. Our internet music concert forged closer ties not only between our two schools, but also promoted a deeper cultural understanding between our two nations and peoples. Let’s hope that we can have many more such kind of internet exchange in the future.

    Christmas Time Celebration (2007-12-25)

On the evening of December 20th 2007, we celebrated Christmas in our school community. All the international teachers dressed in the traditional Christmas garb such as Santa hats, reindeer antlers. Principal Dr. Wang and Assistant Principal Dr. Bob also got into the Christmas spirit and dressed up as jolly old Saint Nick.

The students and teachers in every classroom were presently surprised with international teachers’ arrival. Dr. Wang made the point of going into all the teachers’ offices, and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Dr. Wang also thanked the teachers for all the hard work that they had done throughout the year. All in all, both the students and teachers were deeply impressed. That night, the whole school was in a sea of happiness.

    • In the golden glow of autumn, we are still immersed in the fun of Halloween.  It is an honor for our school to be selected, based upon caricatures submitted by our students in a competition, to be named a "Caricature Based" school.  In celebration of this honor, students from our school presented a wonderful performance to fellow students and honored guests this past week..

The international teachers of English were also a part of the celebration.  They performed a great song and dance routine called "Teaching English in Yangzhou".  The performance of the international teachers of English won high praise from the audience.  It was a wonderful experience that was enjoyed by all in attendance.
