  • Video conference with our sister school --Collegiate School Students (2009-5-22)

On May 21st (at 8:00pm Beijing Standard Time and 8:00am American Eastern Standard Time) a video conference was held in our school’s English Room.

Last March two students held a musical concert via video conference. This was the second time two sister school students communicated with each other by video. For this semester, our students and collegiate school students are studying the same book called “Three cups of tea”. They discussed some questions from the book and talked about their school life. We learn from each other and progress together.

Our video communication was truly an eye- opening and heart-warming experience. We were able to minimize the distance across many borders, to watch and talk face to face even though we live in different time zones. The video conference promoted a deeper cultural understanding between our two nations and people. Let’s hope that we can have many more such kind of internet interaction in the future.

During May 13th-17th, our sister school Daeoeok Middle School in Yongin, Korea, with its Vice Principal Ms. Zhao and 21 teachers and students visited our school. They have also paid a visit to our school on October 2008.

Last December we visited them, thus this is the second time their students came to our school. Korean teachers and students had a wonderful time here. In addition to visiting our school and places of interest in Yangzhou, they learned Chinese painting, and experienced Chinese traditional instrument – Guzheng.

They learned how to make dumplings and took part in the games with our students. Korean friends had home-stay with our students. Not only for Korean students to experience a real chance of family life in China, but also our students and parents can socialize with the Korean students, learning communication skills, experience cultural differences.
