 Message from Principal
I address you as a father, as a researcher, and as an educator. As a father, I know very well about parents’ high expectations of children’s education. Children are the hope of our country and our nation and are even more the total hope of you and me who love our children deeply. As a researcher who has been studying education at home and abroad for many years and struggling always to keep in the forefront of advances in education, I realize that the supreme criteria of education are both to develop each child’s greatest potential and to train the children to possess the qualities which are in accord with future social needs.
I believe firmly that to love children unconditionally is the foundation and soul of all education. Respecting, understanding, and encouraging students are the concrete embodiments of love for students. In Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language School at Yangzhou, my colleagues and I will help every student develop all-around self confidence in an environment of love and praise.
The impact of education on a person is enormous and life-long.
Here, I’d like to tell a story: Twenty years ago, in a village one hour drive from Yangzhou, one mother put up with all the hardships and tried her best to collect together every Fen so she could afford to pay for her child’s education at a university. Even after the child failed twice to pass the college entrance examination, the mother and child did not give up. Eventually, on his third try, the child passed the examination and was admitted to a university.—Peking University. From then on, his destiny was changed by the education he received there. Later on, he became the founder of the New Oriental schools. His name is Mr. Yu Min Hong. His experiences and hardships growing up have made Mr. Yu realize the sacredness and importance of education. That realization, combined even more with his passion and intelligence, impelled Mr. Yu to do his part to bring education into the new millennium.
Today, Beijing New Oriental has already developed into one extremely successful education group. Graduates include scholars studying in Britain, doctors studying in America, and majors in business administration from Yale. Beijing New Oriental Foreign Language School at Yangzhou, invested in by the group, gathers even more of the elite from the educational circle. I believe that if your child begins from here, he will move towards Peking University and Tsing-Hua University…move towards Yale….move towards Harvard…
